What Does Google Ad Sense See In My Legs?

Should I be offended or frightened that on the day I post some pictures of myself this is the Google Ad Sense ad?

What makes Google Ad Sense think such an ad is "relevant to (my) audience" or my "site content"?

  1. Relax, Debbie,

I was thinking in the same vein!

  2. (He's very punny.)

What I love about Google is how they "read" my mail. It's a little unsettling to write something private and personal and then see Google post ads regarding various topics from my e-mail in the sidebar.

    Freaky!

  3. I'm sorry; it's ME. Not being self-deprecating, but there are MANY reasons that my legs remain private.

Evidently Google AdSense has divined (or "de-veined?") at least one.

  4. I always thought, "Huh!! That's cool!" Until C-dub zoomed in on the creepy-ness of it all.
Sometimes you just wanna yell, "Hey! Get off my back!"

  5. Yes its a little weird the first time you realise the adverts are talking about something you are. They just take a sample of the words on the page and take a stab at what ad would best suit those conditions.talk some more about cars and you'll get auto ads and so on.

  6. Here you go, Deborah - the much anticipated Broccoli Casserole recipe ...

    Ingredients:

    1 bag frozen broccoli
1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1/4 cup mayonaise
    1/4 cup milk
    8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
    1 egg
    1 tbsp. butter or margerine
    bread crumbs

    Directions:

Cook broccoli according to directions on bag. Drain. In large mixing bowl, combine broccoli, mushroom soup, mayo, milk, cheese, egg and butter. Spread evenly into a small pyrex baking dish. Sprinkle a layer of bread crumbs on top and cover with aluminum foil. Bake on 350 for 35 minutes - remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

    Enjoy!

  7. Compulsive,

I agree it can be freaky. Most of the time the ads don't seem to make sense and I waste time reading the email trying to determine what word triggered the ad.

At least we can rely on C-Dub to show us the rational way to view Internet spying.
