Summer Slumber (Or Lack Thereof)

Summer vacation is in full swing at our house. For the most part that is a good thing. But tonight at 10:15 PM when DH told D2 she needed to go to bed so she could get up early, she confidently explained, "Daddy, I can go to bed at twelve thirty-four and wake up at seven twenty-nine. And that sums up precisely the problem I have with summer vacation.

  1. Ah, yes, children - wonderful little creatures full of energy, and when they have run out, they then suck all of mine!!!

  2. Oh! what a great picture of D2. The memories of being that age. The summer sleepovers, vacations, picnics, etc. Enjoy the good times. Joanne

  3. Summer, playing ball with the neighborhood kids, building forts in the woods, losing track of time... until we heard Mom calling for us from the distance.

  6. Chewy,

I never lived near the woods to build any forts. We had to make our forts by tying the tall grass that grew in the field behind our house.

  9. Christine,

At least one benefit to having five children is that you eventually get one that looks like you.

  10. Yes.. D1 looks Christine.. with MY hair... D2 is me... she is SO lucky!! Even though Christine may have kissed MY husband - I did not kiss Debbie's... so D2's look - is just genetics at work.... S2 - hello Stephen... atleast in the picture in the Blog below! You have children that look A LOT like our side of the family... Well Done!

Ozlady - I love that quote.. I am going to keep it!

I love the freedom of summer - but hate the boredom!
